The Ambassador of Kazakhstan met with the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, Mr. K.D. Lalkantha.
Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Mr. Sergey Viktorov and Deputy Chief of the Kazakhstan Mission, Mr. Rustem Jamankulov met with the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, Mr. K.D. Lalkantha, at the Ministry of Agriculture today (04th).
On this occasion, the Minister warmly welcomed the Kazakhstan delegation and subsequently engaged in a cordial discussion with them. The main purpose of the Kazakhstan delegation’s visit to Sri Lanka was to inform the Minister about the upcoming regional state summit. Approximately 20 countries are expected to participate in this. In particular, Kazakhstan indicated that there is readiness to reach an international water agreement at this summit. Its objective is to reach an agreement on the sharing of water from rivers flowing across countries.
During the meeting, Kazakhstan made a special request to the Sri Lankan government, led by the Minister. That is, to provide Sri Lanka’s support for this water agreement. The Minister of Agriculture stated that support would be given without any hesitation. He further added that Sri Lanka is ready to offer support at any time for favorable conventions. During the discussion, the Minister also inquired whether an agreement could be reached with Kazakhstan regarding the import of chemical fertilizers required by Sri Lanka.
On this occasion, the Kazakhstan representatives mentioned that they liked Sri Lanka very much, and that our country’s climate remains at a favourable level. They stated that the people of Kazakhstan choose Turkey, Egypt, Thailand and Sri Lanka, for travel.
