Appointments Granted for 40 Posts in the National Livestock Development Board.

The awarding of new appointments for the National Livestock Development Board took place yesterday (11th) at its head office, presided over by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation, Mr. K.D. Lal Kantha. During the event, appointments were granted for 20 Field Livestock Assistant posts and 20 Tractor Operator posts.

The Minister expressed his views while participating in this event.

“First of all, congratulations to everyone who received their appointments today. In our country, people look for job thinking only about their personal lives. Even within our school education system, very little attention is paid to social responsibility. As a result, our education ultimately produces individuals filled with an ego centered on self-interest. After that, nothing else matters to them. They show no discipline when walking on the street. There is no discipline to use the pedestrian crossing, and no discipline when driving a vehicle. In any given situation, the extent to which people think about the public good or society is minimal.

The primitive era of mankind was collective. If we look at the monarchical period, there was a king and his subjects. During that time, political power belonged entirely to the elite class. The elite also enjoyed the economic benefits, and cultural power belonged to them as well. In 1815, we fell under British rule. From time to time, various rebellions arose against the elite.

Professor Kumari Jayawardena has authored numerous books analyzing society. Read them if you can. There is one book called ‘Sokkan Lokkan Wu Hati’ (How the Lowly Became Mighty), which details how people in our country allied with the British to become the aristocratic Walauwa elite.

In 1948, we gained semi-independence. There is a song sung by Nanda Malini and written by Professor Sunil Ariyaratne called ‘Sudda Yanna Giyeth Naha Hitiyeth Naha’ (The White Man Neither Fully Left Nor Truly Stayed).”

You, who receive your appointments today, must work toward the development of the livestock sector. Various challenges will come your way. When the dollar fluctuates, it affects us. Challenges will also come from the weather. If you chase after your targets, the operation will be successful. For that, we need a good staff.

The Chairman of the National Livestock Development Board, Mr. D.C.S. Perera, and other officials, participated in this event.
