Chairmen of Ceylon Fertilizer Company owned by the government and Commercial Fertilizer Company have informed the Ministry of Agriculture that rainy weather conditions prevailed over the past few days badly affected the distribution of Urea and MOP fertilizers throughout the island.

Minister of Agriculture, Mahinda Amaraweera made inquiries from the chairmen in regard to the reporting of a problematic situation in obtaining fertilizers for farmers in certain areas of the island. They said that fertilizer distribution had been temporarily stopped due to rainy and extremely cold weather condition and it was resumed from today (14).

The chairmen emphasized that there were sufficient stocks of fertilizer in warehouses even though the distribution of fertilizer was temporarily stopped due to extreme weather condition.
