Minister of Agriculture conducted a special inspection tour

Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, K.D. Lalkantha, recently conducted a special inspection tour at the Center for Education Development Research and Training, Gurudeniya in the Kandy District, which provides education to students affected by the Ditwah disaster, who are facing difficulties in pursuing their studies, with a focus on examinations.

A total of 125 students are studying in that place, and the Ministry of Education in the Provincial Council provides support for the food, drink, and other needs of all these children. The private sector and certain individuals also contribute in various ways to this endeavor.

The students who participated in this event expressed their opinions.

When we were in a difficult situation, they brought us to this center, gave us food and drink, and provided us with education. Also, I met wonderful friends here. Now we are like siblings. We received good education. There is a group of teachers here nourished with experience who prepare us well for the examinations. Thank you to everyone who provided us with facilities.”

The Minister who participated in this event expressed his views.

“As we move forward in life, we have to face various challenges. Problems are challenges we encounter to find answers. These challenges are things we can talk about when we look back someday as we move forward in life. This is a good experience to share with others. Now we have the opportunity to reach a better situation than we were in before. This is also good research for the teachers who are dedicated to this. There is a good characteristic in our country – when someone has a problem, none of us abandon it. From the time this disaster occurred, everyone in our provincial public service made a tremendous sacrifice to restore normalcy. What was always in our discussions was when the schools would start. What problems we have for starting schools. We are working to gather our children and operate a special program like this to continue educational activities without disruption. Make this an opportunity to overcome the disaster that occurred and achieve victory in life.”

The Provincial Director of Education, Central Province, the Provincial Education Secretary and several officials also participated in this event.
