A special discussion was held yesterday (08th) at the Govijana Mandiraya to inform journalists and the public about compensation for crop damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah and future steps in agriculture. Mr. D.P. Wickremasinghe, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, Mr. Dhammika Ranatunga, Commissioner General of Agrarian Development of the Department of Agrarian Development, and Dr. Thushara Wickramarachchi, Director General of the Department of Agriculture, participated in this event.

Mr. D.P. Wickremasinghe, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, stated on this occasion that the government has paid over one billion rupees as crop damage compensation for agricultural and livestock farms destroyed by adverse weather conditions.
